So, let me start this blog by saying that I am a stupid, nasty, disgusting and unhealthy smoker!  Picking up a cigarette was certainly one of the dumbest decisions I have ever made, but I did and I’m finding it harder and harder to smoke anywhere these days!  A bunch of my favorite eating/drinking establishments are going totally smoke free.  If I’m going to that place just to grab some food, dealing without a cigarette for a while isn’t too bad.  But as any smoker knows, if you go out for a drink, you NEED TO SMOKE!  Pathetic as it is, it’s just the truth.  So, I’m wondering how or if you are affected by these no smoking policies being implemented all over town.

So, I made a new addition to my apartment a couple of months ago.  I got a dog!  I had been wanting a puppy for a while and finally decided I was ready to take on the responsibility of owning a pet.  So, I got a Westie!  My mom has had a Westie for a couple years and I just fell in love with her.  I’ve always been a “big dog” kind of guy, but these little terriers are awesome, so I got one!  She’s now a little over 5 months old and almost everything about her has been great, except for one thing…here’s my problem.

Well Happy New Year!  Yeah, it might be a late wish, but so far, I love 2008!  The Planet has had some great things to start off the year.  On January 2nd, we added a new voice to our station.  Well, it’s not really a new voice.  It’s probably the one person (besides me, I’m sure) that you think of when it comes to rock DJ’s in Roanoke and Lynchburg.  Of course that would be rock radio veteran Heidi!  Heidi had worked a long time for our competition, for over a decade actually.  You know the station I’m talking about, the one that plays the same songs day after day after day.  Anyways, Heidi was ready for a change and I actually came to find out that she had been a “closet Planet listener” for a while when she was still with the other guys!  She’s a great talent and knows her rock, so check out Heidi from 10AM-2PM every weekday on The Planet, 101.5 & 97.9.

Alright, so I have definitely been slacking on getting a new blog on The Burg!  I could blame the holidays, being sick, things being absolutely crazy at work or a myriad of other things on why I haven’t posted lately. But excuses don’t get you far now do they?  Anyways, it was a really cool weekend for me!  I had an opportunity to go to Charlotte and audition for a tour with a major cable broadcasting company!  I’ll tell you more about that in a minute.  But first….

Hey, it’s Cody Gray from 101.5/97.9 The Planet, the only station playing Everything That Rocks!  This is my third blog here on The Burg.  If you have no idea who I am or what I’m about, go back and read the first two blogs I have posted.  It will give you some insight about me, and I’m sure you’ll at least have an opinion on what I had to say last week regarding life in Lynchburg.  If that’s the case, leave your comments or send me an email at .  I love to get your feedback on the things that I write!  My focus for today’s blog will be asking the question: “Will there ever be another music legend?”  I’ll explain more about that question/topic in just a second.  First, I just want to let you know about a couple of things happening this week with my station, The Planet.

What’s going on?  Cody Gray here.  For those of you who don’t know me, I will reintroduce myself.  I am the afternoon host on the best rock station in town, and that of course would be 101.5/97.9 The Planet!  Are you tired of hearing the same old rock songs day, after day, after day, after day?  Well then you’re in luck!  That’s why The Planet exists!  We feature a HUGE rock library, playing thousands of songs without the same old repeats!  So if you get a chance, I’d be honored if you checked out our radio station!  Now that is out of the way, I have a question for you.  What is your problem with Lynchburg?
