Beginning March 1, Lynchburg native PJ Sykes is bringing the third installment of his photography exhibit to help introduce the Good Cherry in Forest.
Since 2002, Sykes has been capturing live performances with his photography. Now averaging 30 shows per year and having photographed bands as big as Interpol and Engine Down, his work has been published in The Washington Post and Skyscraper Magazine.
Sykes’ eye for photography is balanced with his talent behind the guitar in bands such as A New Dawn Fades (with Nathan McGlothlin of The Late Virginia Summers) and Graceland Grave Robbers.
The Good Cherry, a new coffee shop in Forest, is set to hold its grand opening on March 1 at 7 p.m., featuring musical guests Mild Winter (of Harrisonburg), Coald Toast (of Richmond), and local musician Nathan McGlothlin (with members of TLVS). It’s a great opportunity to see several different musical styles and art showcased at no cost. (That’s right, it’s free!)
Although the Good Cherry’s grand opening is set for March 1, Sykes’ exhibit will be displayed until April 6. This installment will include photos from national acts such as the Walkmen, Joe Lally of Fugazi, and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, as well as more regional acts.
The Good Cherry is located at 14805 Forest Road, in the USPS shopping center on Route 221.
