Ozzfest may return for summer ’09
Sharon Osbourne has hinted to MTV News that Ozzfest will be back this summer in full force. Last year, the multi-act metal tour was scaled down to a single show in Dallas. The year before, the tour was paid for by sponsors, which meant free tickets for fans. Osbourne told MTV, “We’re going back to what we originally were.”

Music notes
Elton John will complete his Las Vegas residency in April, when his contract for the “Red Piano” show runs out. John has performed more than 200 shows at Caesars Palace since 2003. He’s also hinted that he might return to the road with Billy Joel next year.

Eminem’s autobiography, “The Way I Am,” arrived this week. The book delves into his painful childhood, his days as a factory floor sweeper and then, his stardom.

Album news
Also Nov. 4 comes “Led Zeppelin Definitive Collection Mini LP Replica Box Set,” a limited edition CD box set containing all 10 of Led Zeppelin’s albums in mini-LP replicas with artwork from the original U.K. album sleeves.

Beyoncé’s third solo album, “I Am ...,” is due Nov. 18. The first two singles, the club bumper “Single Ladies Put a Ring On It” and the excellent ballad, “If I Were a Boy” can be heard at http://www.myspace.com/beyonce.

Barry Manilow has tackled the songs of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, so now comes, of course, the’80s. Manilow’s “The Greatest Songs of the Eighties” arrives Nov. 25 and will include his versions of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up,” Wham!’s “Careless Whisper” and Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’ “Islands in the Stream,” with Parton’s part sung by Reba McEntire.

Also out Nov. 25 is “24 Hours,” Tom Jones’ first album in 15 years. The disc includes a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Hitter” and guest appearances from Bono and the Edge.

Missy Elliott’s “Block Party” has gotten yet another new release date Feb. 10. If you need a Missy fix, catch her in the Pussycat Dolls video for “Whatcha Think About That”
