Tom Petty gets two-disc re-release
The Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers documentary, “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” will be re-released as a streamlined, two-DVD edition Oct. 28. The Peter Bogdonovich-directed set - originally released last year as a four-DVD collection - will feature bonus performances of Eddie Vedder singing “The Waiting” and a 1978 live take on “Too Much Ain’t Enough”
American Music Awards nominees announced
Alicia Keys, Coldplay and the Eagles lead the nominees for the 2008 American Music Awards, which will air next month on ABC.
Also on the multiple-nods list are Lil Wayne, who got a nod for artist of the year, as well as favorite male rap/hip-hop arist (among others), and Chris Brown, who is also up for artist of the year, plus favorite male artist pop or rock and favorite male artist soul/R&B.
Fans can vote for their faves on http://www.abc.com. The show, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, airs live Nov. 23 from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Hall & Oates’ “Live at the Troubadour” arrives Nov. 25. The music comes from the duo’s May concerts at the Los Angeles venue, the first time they’ve played there in 25 years.
Remixes of Johnny Cash’s biggest songs will arrive Jan. 27 on “Johnny Cash Remixed.” Snoop Dogg is one of the guests.
The Jonas Brothers will entertain at halftime for the Thanksgiving Day football game between the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks.
Britney Spears has apparently allowed MTV’s cameras unrestricted access to her life recently, and the results will be shown Nov. 30 on “Britney: For the Record.” The documentary was shot over three months.
Taylor Swift and Def Leppard joined vocal forces recently to tape an edition of “CMT Crossroads,” which will air at 9 p.m. Nov. 7 on CMT.
