Boss to release album in January
Bruce Springsteen fans might get some new music from the Boss sooner than they thought. The Springsteen-insider Web site, Backstreets.com, says the song “Workin’ On A Dream,” which the singer performed with wife Patti Scialfa at a Barack Obama rally last weekend, is expected to arrive around the time of the January presidential inauguration.

Seal fans anticipating Tuesday’s release of “Soul” can head to the singer’s MySpace page to view the video for the Otis Redding cover “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long.”
Despite being the biggest music retailer, Wal-Mart stores are reportedly downsizing shelf space for CDs in favor of Blu-ray discs. Home Media Magazine reports that a 23 percent drop in CD sales the past four weeks has spurred the decision in some stores.

Akon’s “Freedom” arrives Dec. 2, and fans used to his old sound might be surprised by the techno elements on his new release.
Maroon 5 releases “Call & Response” on Dec. 9, a remix disc featuring the talents of Swizz Beats, Mark Ronson and Pharrell Williams.
Lionel Richie will be back next year, and has already co-written some tracks with Ne-Yo and Akon for his upcoming “Just Go,” due Feb. 17. Richie will also launch a world tour in Dublin on March 13.
Richmond-based metal titans Lamb of God unveil their fifth studio album, “Wrath,” on Feb. 24. The disc was recorded in New York, New Hampshire and Virginia.
