Metal-head alert.
Jan. 21 will be a big day for local metal fans, as four bands come to the Hill City to perform.
Oh, Sleeper, Burden of the Day, Dead and Divine, and Kenotia will be at Living Word for only $7. Opening acts will include local bands The Poison Written and Reapers are the Angels.
Rarely does Lynchburg host well-known bands, much less four within the same show, and it’s all thanks to a 17-year-old named Caleb Stone.
Recognizing that our local music scene was quickly fading, he stepped up to help make a change.
“I started booking because I have always had a dream and goal to be the leader of something,” Stone says. “The music scene here was close to dying, and I wanted to bring it back and watch it grow into bringing in national acts.”
After founding Stone Booking less than a year ago, which books through local venues, Stone has already brought in bands from all over the United States, all while tying local acts into the mix. Generally, he’s got one show per week on tap.
Check Stone Booking’s Web page for updated information and new shows as they are confirmed at http://www.myspace.com/stonebooking. Advance tickets for the Jan. 21 show can be purchased for $5 by contacting The Poison Written, http://www.myspace.com/poisonwritten, or Reapers are the Angels, http://www.myspace.com/reapersaretheangels.
