Duo keeps it interesting

Tegan and Sara is a Canadian-born singing-songwriting duo that also happen to be identical twins. They perform indie folk rock and have toured with the likes of Neil Young, Rufus Wainwright, Ben Folds and Weezer to name a few.
The duo’s latest album is “The Con” and is Tegan and Sara’s fifth album and comes out three years after their last release.
“The Con” includes 14 tracks with seven written by Tegan and the other seven written by Sara.
Former Weezer bassist Matt Sharp lends his skills to the duo and plays on five songs. Stand-out tracks include “Relief Next to Me,” “Hop a Plane,” “Like O, Like H” and “Call It Off.”
As a whole, the album was put together very nicely and in this case it is worth more than the sum of its parts.
Tegan and Sara continue with past trends, progressing toward a more melodic and less aggressive sound than their previous releases. They still have enough angst left in them to keep the energy high and the songs interesting.
Tegan And Sara are on an extensive tour through December. Check out their Web site for more information at http://www.teganandsara.com.
