Sheryl Crow is a blues rock singer and songwriter. She is known for her interpretations of country, pop, folk, blues, and rock, often melding them together to create her own unique blend. Over the span of her illustrious career in music, Crow has won 10 Grammy Awards. In recent years she has been seen dating Lance Armstrong (the Tour de France champion) and has had a bout with breast cancer, ultimately bringing even more awareness to the issue.
Her latest record is called “Detours” and it is one of her more personal, if not her most personal album to date. It is also ripe with political allusions. As with her first major release this album was produced by Bill Bottrell, which is probably why it feels like a return to her earlier days with an edgier rock sound. The first single is entitled “Shine Over Babylon” and makes a very strong statement about environmental awareness. Her second single from “Detours” is called “Love Is Free” and was inspired by the situation in New Orleans, but more specifically the resolve of the people living there. Another track that must be repeated over and over again is “Gasoline” it’s ridiculously good.
There are 14 tracks in total, each full of the classic Sheryl Crow sound. Crow could very much be considered a classic rock star in every sense. This is her sixth release and she still looks and sounds just as timeless as ever. For more information check out http://www.sherylcrow.com.
