Concerts to benefit food bank

By Liz Barry on May. 01, 2008

From staff reports

Manna in the Valley, two Southern gospel concerts, are scheduled for May 2 and 3 to benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Network.

Gordon Mote, Jeff and Sheri Easter and His Song will perform at Thomas Road Baptist Church at 6 p.m. May 3. The show follows a May 2 concert at The Community Church in Ashburn at 7 p.m. May 2.

Gordon Mote is a blind pianist from Nashville, who has played for Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson and Martina McBride. He recently released his first solo album, “Don’t Let Me Miss the Glory.”

Jeff and Sheri Easter are a gospel music duo, who have earned a long list of accolades, including three Dove Awards, the equivalent of Grammy Awards in the Christian music industry.

The third performer, About His Song, is a southern gospel trio featuring lead singer Dennis Humphries with Adam Elrod and baritone Adam Cannon.

Concert proceeds will go to the hunger relief efforts of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Network, which serves 25 counties and nine cities in Virginia.

Tickets are $17.50 for reserved seats and $15 for general admission. For group tickets, contact Terrie Dean at (800) 296-3663. For information, visit http://www.mannainthevalley.com or http://www.brafb.org.
