Comedian brings ‘front porch humor’
By Jon Busdeker on Jun. 14, 2007
James Gregory, best known for his frequent guest appearances on the John Boy & Billy (radio) Show, will be performing at Big Lick Tropical Grill’s Comedy Zone tonight.
The first show, scheduled for 7:30 p.m., sold out so quickly that an extra show has been added at 9:15 p.m.
The funnyman has been a stand-up comedian for more than two decades and has consistently set attendance records in most of the venues he performs. He tours 45 weeks a year in theaters, collages, corporate events and comedy clubs all over the U.S.
Additionally, he can often be heard on other radio shows like The Rick & Bubba Show in Birmingham, The Bob & Tom Show in Indianapolis and The Steve & DC Morning Show in St. Louis.
He’s also appeared in concert with the likes of Kenny Chesney, Randy Travis, Reba McEntire, The Judds and George Jones.
Gregory says he specializes in “front porch humor,” meaning he tells stories anyone can relate to, no matter where they’re from, stories about crazy relatives and covered-dished at funerals.
“I have lived long enough to know people, know life,” he says. “My comedy is based on my experiences. I want to make the whole country laugh.”
