Burial is awesome in anonymity

Burial is the alias of an anonymous dubstep musician based out of London. Dubstep is electronic dance music that was popularized in London during the first part of the decade. The genre generally features dark moods and heavy bass. Burial has chosen to remain anonymous since the release of “South London Boroughs” in 2005. In one interview, Burial went so far as to say that only five people know about the alternate identity of the songsmith. The idea behind maintaining anonymity is to keep the focus on the music and image and hype from becoming a part of the listening experience. Aside from the two studio albums, Burial has released three EPs.
Burial’s second studio album is titled “Untrue” and features 13 tracks with one untitled introduction. Of the 12 complete songs on “Untrue,” the most unique are “Archangel,” “Ghost Hardware,” “Etched Headplate,” and “Raver.” Burial continues previous themes of solitude and heartache while conveying an austere (yet trippy) and a dramatic (yet tender) mood. This is an artist worth paying attention to.
The production was named the 10th best album of 2007 by Pitchfork Media. For more information, check out the record label’s web site at http://www.myspace.com
