Be comfortable in clothes
By Jon Busdeker on Jul. 19, 2007
Dear Emily: Every time I go clothes shopping with my wife, she picks out all sorts of crazy and colorful shirts that I just won’t wear. She insists that everything in my closet looks the same and wants me to “expand my horizon.” Sometimes I give in just to avoid an argument, and then the clothes she picks out for me just sit in the closet. Why can’t women understand that men are just not into fashion as much as women are, and sometimes sticking to just the basics is good enough for us?
— Seeking Simple Solutions
Dear Seeking Simple Solutions: Be careful not to generalize about women and fashion because many metro sexual guys could teach our gender a thing or two about what to wear.
In fact, you may be surprised to know that your sticking to the basics philosophy is actually very smart and trendy. Top designers will tell you that every person has a set of colors that flatter him or her, and it is wise to stick with what works.
So explain to your wife that certain colors compliment a person’s skin tone, and those are the ones they should keep wearing.
