Austin trio comes to White Hart
The Shake ‘Em Ups, an acoustic band from Austin, Texas, will bring the sounds of American roots music to the White Hart Café Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m.

With a mix of old traditionals and original compositons, the Shake ‘Em Ups fuse the sounds of bluegrass, swing, honky-tonk and old-time music. Behind the band are three young instrumentalists who incorporate brother-style harmonies and fierce instrumentals.

“The lo-fi debut from Austin’s Shake ‘Em Ups unloads an infectious fury of strings, the trio chugging acoustic rhythms braced by banjo, Dobro, mandolin and Andrew Austin Petersen’s stellar stand-up bass,” wrote Doug Freeman in a review by the Austin Chronicle.

Opening for the Shake ‘Em Ups is a new Lynchburg group, Cricketgrass, which includes two members from James River Congregation along with singer/songwriter Becca Mancari.
