Theater brings ‘Sleeping Beauty’ to Academy
Missoula Children’s Theatre, the nation’s largest touring children’s theater, will present “Sleeping Beauty” at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Academy of Fine Arts’ Warehouse Theatre.

Missoula has been touring for over 30 years. A tour team arrives in a location with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up. All they need is a cast, and that’s where local kids come in. Students who have registered for the Missoula class audition and then spend a week rehearsing a popular children’s show.

Past seasons have included “Beauty Lou and the Country Beast,” “Jungle Book” and “Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs.”

Tickets to “Sleeping Beauty” are $7 for children and $10 for adults. Call (434) 845-TIXX for more information.

Local quilts featured in New York City 9/11 display
Two quilts made by Lynchburg College faculty, staff, students and alumni have been acquired, with dozens of others, by the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City.

The Sept. 11 Quilt Memorial Project was conceived by fabric artist Drunell Levinson of New York, in response to the terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
