Two nights of music
Speakertree Records will host back-to-back nights of live music this weekend, with acts from as far away as Sacramento, Calif., and Ontario.
Saturday’s show, which begins at 8 p.m., features Cinemasophia, indie shoegaze-influenced rockers from Richmond and Brooklyn, N.Y., and The Late Virginia Summers, an experimental/ instrumental group from Forest.
On Sunday, the music kicks off at 7 p.m. with Dead Western of Sacramento, Calif., and Snowblink from Ontario and San Francisco. Dead Western’s sound draws on freak folk in the vein of Devendra Banhart. Speakertree owner Blair Amberly describes the sound as a “slow, drawn-out vocal over beautiful acoustics ... incredibly moving and captivating.” Snowblink features a female vocalist over “gently stirring arrangements,” Blair says.
Speakertree is located at 522 Fifth St. Both shows are free, although donations will be accepted.
