Auditions open for Richard III production
The Hamner Theater will conduct auditions for the Nelson County Shakespeare Festival’s production of “Richard III” at 7 p.m. July 14 and 15. Actors should memorize eight to 10 lines of “Richard III” or another Shakespeare play. Parts are available for men, women and some children. Performances will take place in October. Quilt Guild to hold art show in Bedford
Bedford’s Peaks and Pieces Quilt Guild will hold its 12th annual quilt show at the Bedford Central Library from July 9 to July 22.
The display will include more than 100 quilts and wall hangings, as well as personal and home accessories. The public is invited to visit the display during regular library hours, and vote for their favorite pieces.

Line dancing class offered in Amherst
The Coolwell Community Center will offer a line dancing class for six weeks on Tuesdays, beginning July 22. The cost is $30 per person or $50 for a husband and wife. To register, call the Amherst County Recreation and Parks Department at (434) 946-9371.
Registration open for leadership program
The Booker T. Washington National Monument will offer a free leadership program, “To Be a Leader,” at 10 a.m. July 12, for children ages 6 to 12. Registration is required. For more information or to register ,call (540) 721-2094.
